Michael Carthy, St Joseph’s Boys NS, Boyle, Roscommon

Rating: 1 out of 5.

I was a pupil around 1960-63. He wanted you to learn. But his method was to instil deep fear. Beatings were daily and savage. My two years at 4th and 5th class changed me forever. My confidence was destroyed. My self-esteem reduced to nothing. Long lasting anxiety and depression stunted my later personal and professional outcomes. I was not alone. That is no consolation to me. Thank God Minister John Boland abolished corporal punishment in 1983. For too many like me this came too late.

Barbara emails like she has never spoken English. It's like she uses ai through her fingers. I genuinely couldn't read anything. Like at all. She uses punctuation sparingly in situations where punctuation is not necessary. I am left awfully confused. Is she literate? Genuine question. Never learned anything. I don't even know if she draws. I don't even know if she has fingers.

Ms. Clarke, ISK Killorglin, Kerry, Killorglin

Rating: 5 out of 5.

I had her as an exchange student. She was the most understandable and sweetest teacher I had. Not only in Ireland also in germany. I might still not be the best at Shakespeare but she made me love the language. I wish you all the best and thank you for the cute note in my report card.
