John Windom, 64, a retired Navy officer, was charged with making false statements, concealment of material facts and falsification of a record or document tied to a failure to report more than $15,000 in cash, casino chips and other gifts from contractors. The Justice Department announced the charges on Wednesday, accusing him of “accepting, and sometimes demanding, extravagant gifts from a group of contractors and subcontractors who worked on the project he was overseeing.” As the indictment notes, Windom was aware of the rules regarding reporting gifts and receipts, per training for officials. “An indictment is merely an allegation. All defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law,” the Justice Department said in its release. In 2018, the 10-year contract was awarded to Cerner (now known as Oracle Health after Oracle acquired it). Windom was appointed as Executive Director of the Office of Electronic Record Modernization in 2017 and helped supervise the VA’s choice of Cerner for the contract. According to the grand jury indictment against him, Windom used his position to take money and gifts from a group of business executives from information technology and consulting companies who were contractors on the project. According to the indictment, Windom allegedly called them “the Power Group.” Windom used his role to “encourage, monitor, and facilitate contract and subcontracting opportunities for members of the Power Group, related and unrelated to the EHRM project.” Windom was allegedly given payment in everything from cash, to $8,200 in Louis Vuitton gift cards and $1,800 in casino chips. He was also given a High Efficiency Particulate Air, or HEPA, filter worth $631. The indictment also accuses Windom of using his position to “coerce” payments and gifts from others. Per the indictment, Windom “repeatedly reminded Power Group members to remain loyal and directed them to maintain confidentiality and their relationship with him.” In one message at the start of 2020, Windom messaged Power Group members, telling them that “loose lips sink ships.” Windom’s initial contract was extended, and in 2022 he was reassigned to serve as deputy director of the Federal electronic Health Modernization Office, a joint VA and Department of Defense project. Nine years after the modernization effort started, the Electronic Health Record program is used by only a handful of VA sites, with the program hit by glitches and usability issues. The VA paused the program in 2023, but is expected to roll out at several sites this year. Windom faces a maximum sentence of over 20 years in prison if convicted on all counts. I met with Dr. Gaday for the first time today, her office called 2x's and insisted I make an appointment for my father. Threatening me that if I don't they will not fill my fathers prescriptions. I made an appointment to introduce myself and ask about my father prescriptions and review a report from my father Eye surgeon. She with a huff, walks in the room plops down leans back in her chair and says I am your father doctor. I tried to speak with her several times and she cut me off each time. I TRYED to explain, my father and I have been estranged for several years, but have now over the last year have managed to patch things up. She cuts me off again and says "yea i know the whole story". she then proceeds to lean into my face and say, "what are you doing here", "What do you hope to gain", Why did you come?, Whats in it for you?:" Again I try to explain and AGAIN she cuts me off, stating, your father does not want you here, you need to leave, she then gets up and walks out of the room. I comment my sister and brother-in law want to speak with her, without the common courtesy of turning to speak to me, she walks away with her back turned and says "go get them" and keeps on walking away. So I get them, and Dr. Gaday walks in the room, says hi sweetie to my brother-in law and they hug.....Dr. Gaday states she wants only one family contact and Mike your it! I was living with my father and caring daily for him after I had moved all the way here from MI at my father multiple months of request.. She then turns and introduces herself to my sister...who by the way has stated time and time again she takes dad to his Dr. appointments. Caught in her own lie once again! What kid of professional behaves this way, and what kind of Dr. tells her patients to get a reverse mortgage, without consulting with the family? This Dr. was WAY OUT OF LINE, after phone conversations with my Brother in law, she had already made her mind up about me without even meeting me. She was RUDE, OBNIXOUS, AND TOTALLY UNPROFESSIONAL AND VERY BIASED. I would think twice about using this so called Dr. she cannot be objective and is totally one sided. I have worked in the medical field for all of my adult life and NEVER observed a Dr. overstep her bounds the way this Doc did. This Dr. needs to check her EGO at the door!

Please stay as far away from this so called doctor...I had Medicaid at the time of my surgery & was left with permanent chronic nerve damage on opioids for the rest of my life due to having carcinoid cancer in my left upper lung.Wormuth repeatedly said & I quote. “If you just had better insurance “. So now I’m left with this permanent chronic nerve damage pain & opioids for the rest of my life because I didn’t have the best insurance-according to Wormuth... didn’t they take an oath to help patients to their best abilities???? Not what kind of insurance you have... you Wormuth will have to answer to our Lord Jesus Christ when you die ....also I know for a fact Wormuth messed up on another patient as well with lung cancer... PLEASE stay away from him -especially if you have Medicaid because you will be treated horribly & left like I am .. permanently chronic nerve damage & on opioids forever... I go to pain clinics for this nerve damage-NONE of the doctors I see have EVER seen this kind of pain & when I tell them what happened-these doctors are baffled! They actually tell me that they can’t help me anymore because this pain is constant & excruciating... I was referred to a Thorasic doctor that was excellent in his field... he wouldn’t touch me that it’s a 10 foot pole... thanks Wormuth for ruining my life... paybacks Wormuth are karma ( put nicely)
