There was a bomb threat at Mendon, and I found out our family’s beloved dog passed away that same day. As a result, I spent an hour bawling in the Counseling Office. No exaggeration, this was like losing a brother. The following day, I had my freshman meeting with Mr. Englerth. His opening question was, “Do you have any pets?” He quickly realized it was insensitive and apologized, but still…??. He’s so kind though. This guy knows more than anyone about cool music, basketball, and golden retrievers. He might have pressured me into dropping a lot of classes I was passionate about. Not his finest moment. Still, he’s a good dude. No shade! Definitely follow his Twitter @englert_j. It’s based! ?

I pity him; he's kind but makes offensive comments without realizing how offensive they are.

He needs to stop spreading rumors; his behavior is so inappropriate.

MHS kids, don't ever listen to someone who isn't on board with what your heart truly desires.

He is so kind and wants to support kids but is biased. For instance, I wanted to try to get into an Ivy League school; I wanted to use the prestige to land powerful positions and make positive changes in the world. Of course, I knew I most likely would have to take the most advanced courses possible and manage several impressive extracurriculars. He discouraged me from taking high-level classes and was always worried that I needed more time to "improve my mental health." I made the mistake of listening to him, enrolling in few advanced classes and dropping out of activities, which closed the doors to my dream.
